Youth booked after escaping quarantine centre in south Kashmir

Srinagar: A youth escaped from a coronavirus quarantine centre at Islamic University of Science and Technology in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, but he was apprehended and brought back to the facility and booked by the police, officials said on Monday.

A police official told that Tariq Ahmed Hajam son of Ghulam Qadir Hajam, a resident of Namlabal Pampore fled the quarantine centre on Monday morning.

On being informed about the incident a police team from Awantipora immediately swung into action, traced the youth and brought him back to quarantine facility at IUST Awantipora.

The official said that the youth before quarantined was booked for displaying negligent behavior and action. “An FIR vide number 42/2020 under section 188, 270 and 271 IPC was registered against the said youth,” he said.

When asked whether this youth had come into contact with anybody after he escaped from the quarantine, the official said that youth was questioned and he denied of coming in touch with anyone. (KNT)
