Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have prevented two youth from joining militant ranks. The youth after being apprehended were counseled and later handed over to parents.
According to a statement, police spokesperson said that based on credible input about joining of two youth in militant ranks, Ganderbal police on the basis of technical inputs immediately swung into action and apprehended both the youth of Wussan area of Ganderbal from Downtown area of Srinagar.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that both the persons had developed a tendency to join militant ranks. The arrested youth were properly counseled by Ganderbal Police, Psychiatrist and other experts in presence of their parents and were later on handed over to their parents with the advice to keep an eye on their daily activities,” police said.
The statement further added that many community members, their parents and relatives expressed their gratitude to District Police Ganderbal for the sympathetic act of saving the lives of these young boys.
Speaking on the issue, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal said that ANEs operating across the border are preying on the gullible youth of Kashmir through various social media platforms and enticing them to join militancy which needs to be curbed.
He further said that parents should come forward and report any such activity of their wards so that they are mainstreamed through concerted counseling by experts—(KNO)
