Two civilians injured in militant firing during laying of cordon in Pampore: Police

Srinagar :Two civilians were injured after militants fired upon government forces when they were laying cordon in Meej Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora district.

Local news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) quoting an unnamed police official reported that as the joint team of Police, 50 RR and CRPF were laying the cordon, the hiding militants attacked with volley of bullets as well as some grenades upon the forces.

In this incident two civilians were injured whose identity couldn’t be ascertained yet were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, the officer said.

The police officer further said that cordon has been tightened around the suspected area with lighting installed.

There was no contact between militants and security forces till this report was being filed.(GNS)
