Srinagar: A Kashmiri youth lodged at Uttar Pradesh Jail has been brought back to Kashmir.
Police sources told Kashmir News Trust a Kashmir youth from Bandipora who was arrested last year in August after the abrogation of Special Status and shifted to UP’s Ambedkar Jail has been brought back.
Sources identified the youth as Adil Bashir Mir and said that he has been kept at Police Station Bandipora and shortly will be lodged at Srinagar Central Jail. Mir was arrested on charges of stone pelting on August 16 last year and subsequently booked under Public Safety Act.
Sources added that before taking him to police station, police got his medical examination done at Bandipora hospital.
A police official while confirming that the youth has been shifted from Ambedkar Jail to Kashmir said that he was involved in an FIR vide number 151 registered against him in 2012, under section 107, 151 CrPc. He was booked under PSA vide order number DMB 43/PSA/2019 and was shifted to Ambedkar Jail UP on 21 August last year.
Over 200 Kashmiris have been lodged in different jails of Uttar Pradesh. (KNT)
