Srinagar:  Hundreds of Kashmiri students have been left stranded in different parts of India amid coronavirus scare. These students without any required facilities are stranded in Karnatka, Kolkatta, Utrakhand, New Delhi and other parts.

These stranded students are living under constant fear of getting infected since they are unable to return home.

On 17 March, the central government temporarily banned the entry of passengers from various coronavirus affected countries as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the virus while from 25 March Government of India suspended all domestic flights.

In Bengaluru, Kahmiri stranded students studying at Atria Institute of Technology told over phone that they are immensely suffering due to 21 days lockdown and are not getting food and other necessities. “Please evacuate us or at least provide required facilities to us. We are starving here,” Shahid Ahmed, a student said over phone.

Students who are stranded in Utrakhand said that they have been vacated from the college hostels. “Our hostels have been turned into quarantine centers. We are putting up in private accommodation,” they said.

Students stranded in New Delhi said that they are running out of money and badly need evacuation. “We vehemently appeal to Jammu and Kashmir Government to evacuate us from here or provide us better facilities so that we are not starved,” they said. (KNT)
