A government employee was placed under suspension on Friday after he was found to have filed his nomination papers for upcoming DDC elections in Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district while on leave.

As per a local news agency, KDC, that a government employee identified as Showkat Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, working in State Motor Garages and presently posted at Regional Office SMG, Kashmir, had filed his nomination papers for DDC elections as a BJP candidate for Beerwah constituency, while he was on leave.

Taking strong notice of the violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), authorities issued a letter to District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, seeking confirmation of the violation committed by the said employee, which was duly confirmed by the DEO.

Taking strong note of the violation of service rules, Director State Motor Garages J-K issued the suspension order of the employee.

An order issued by Director SMG, J-K, reads, “Pending enquiry into the conduct and for violation of Rule-14 of Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971 and in terms of Rule-31 of Jammu and Kashmir CCA Rules-1956,  Shri Showkat Ahmad Wani, S/O Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani R/O Lalpora, Beeru Budgam I/C, Chauffeur Employee Code No: 637 presently posted in Regional Office,  SMG, Kashmir is placed under suspension with immediate effect.” (KDC)
