Srinagar: In an unsuccessful attempt, a grenade was lobbed at a Sarpanch’s house, which, however, didn’t exploded, in Shadipora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday late evening.

A grenade was lobbed at a house of a lady Sarpanch identified as Rubeena Akhter in Tregam area of Shadipora at around 9 pm in the evening, reported wire-service KNO.

They said the grenade, however, didn’t explode, adding that the police and other security forces have arrived at the spot to ascertain the facts.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Rahul Malik confirmed that a grenade was found but it didn’t explode. “We are verifying whether the grenade is in exploding mode or is rusted. The facts are being ascertained,” he said. (KNO)
