Srinagar: The first-ever free international Online Career Summit 2020 on Career Counselling and Global Opportunities (Jobs, Education, Scholarships) in Jammu and Kashmir organised by Startup Move Beyond, Centre for Student Leadership, IIEDC, NIT Srinagar and sponsored by TEQIP III NIT Srinagar was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Central University Kashmir Prof Mehraj ud din and Vice-Chancellor Central University Jammu Prof Ashok Aima.

The event was streamed LIVE on the facebook page of Move Beyond and NIT,Srinagar.

In a statement, the spokespersons said, “The event was attended by the other special guests and speakers as well particularly Prof Yasmeen Ashai, Principal Govt Degree College MA Road, Prof MF Wani, Dean Faculty Welfare, NIT Srinagar, Dr MY Peerzada, Director Colleges J&K, Prof Hameed Naseem Rafiabadi, Director Islamic Studies Central University Kashmir, GN Var, Chairman Private School Education, J&K, Keshav Mehra, Career Strategist, International Education, from Australia, Dr Shabir Hassan from Harvard University, USA, Ravi Louthmalla, Career Advisor from USA, Dr Sangita Ladha, former Vice-President Jain Irrigation and presently Director Rivulis Irrigation India, Kaamendra Dahat, Career Consultant from Mumbai, Satish Talreja, Career Advisor from Delhi, Vandana Mehra, Career Consultant from Hyderabad, Faizaan Bhat, Columnist and Researcher, Dr Maroof Shah, Author, Columnist and Scholar, Prof Ajaz Ahmad Mir, former Head T&P NIT Srinagar and Prof Khursheed ul Islam , IMPA from J-K,”

The event was aimed to sensitize the students and youth about education, job and scholarship opportunities in the world and was attended by hundreds of students online. There were around 2000 registrations received for the program. The state administration particularly Higher Education Department and J-K Police had given it a wide publicity on their social media handles as a part of their support and encouragement to such initiatives, said the statement.

Adding that the counsellors gave in depth presentation about the career opportunities which was followed by the Question and Answer Session. Furthermore, the students were reached out individually as well for personalised counselling sessions. It was emphasised in the program that more and more career awareness is required to address the concerns of student community. Besides career counselling to students, there is a need for parent counselling as well so that the youth will choose their career as per their talent, interest and motivation which otherwise gets decided at parental level usually devoid of any scientific reasoning and influenced by misinformation, ignorance and social considerations.

“The startup Move Beyond in collaboration with IIEDC, NIT Srinagar has planned number of free programmes of counselling and mentorship to reach each and every student of the society for career development and better future of youth. The startup is working on a comprehensive model of Holistic Youth Development and ARDSA (Analysing Requirement and Defining Solution Architecture) as its working principle. Previously, the startup apart from its other activities has also organized sessions on Fullbright Fellowships at University of Kashmir where Syed Abid Rashid, IAS where the then DC Srinagar was the Chief Guest. Tedx NIT Srinagar, training to the teachers of private schools in collaboration with Private School Association Kashmir has also been few of their joint initiatives,”

Presently, the startup has scheduled another Online Career Counselling Summit Part 2 in collaboration with the Government Degree College, Kargil for the students of Ladakh region on the coming weekend on their facebook page movebeyond.in.
