Srinagar: The Union government on Tuesday that Covid-19 vaccination for everyone above the age of 45-years will start across India from April 1.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar informed the Parliament that after April 1, anyone, who is over 45-years without any medical certificate will be vaccinated.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), people above the age of 45-years will not require a comorbidity certificate to get vaccinated, the minister said.

The Minister said that In India there was no dearth of Covid-19 vaccine doses and urged all eligible people to register immediately and get vaccinated in order to beat Covid-19.

India has till now vaccinated 4.85 crore people, Javdekar said, adding that “In the last 24 hours, 32.54 people got vaccines besides that in February daily average was around 3.50 lakh every day, but in March, the daily average has reached around 15 lakh which will increase further.”

He said: “Spike in Covid-19 cases in several parts of India is being monitored and Centre was in touch with states where numbers are going up and states are taking their call as per their past experience.”

Pertinently, the Covid vaccination drive was started across India on January 16 for health care workers which was extended for all front line workers. Later, on first March, the Covid vaccination drive for all above 60 and above 45 for persons having Comorbidities was started on March 1—(KNO)
