In the first-ever District Development Council elections in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has bagged seven seats and emerged as the single largest party in the district.
The State Election Commission called the district’s fourteen constituencies; after the PDP, National Conference won two seats while the BJP won its maiden seat in the district, Kakapora-II. Independent candidates won four seats.
As per the latest figures available with The Kashmir Walla, the Alliance has won sixty-one seats while the BJP bagged eighteen seats. Congress won seven seats while the Apni Party raced ahead on six seats. The counting was underway when this report was filed.
