Authorities on Monday asked the schools of Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate International Yoga Day on Tuesday.
In an official communiqué, Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Education and Research (SCERT), a copy which lies with a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), has directed all heads of District Institute of Education and Training (DIETs) to pass the instruction to school heads.
“The International Yoga Day is being celebrated in India and all the associated countries on June 21, as the said date is declared as the Yoga Day on the international level,” SCERT said.
The communiqué reads, “In this connection, as per the instructions from the higher ups, DIETs are requested to advise all the Primary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools of your jurisdiction to celebrate the International Yoga Day on June-21.”
SCERT further requested to monitor the celebration of the day from all the corners. “Submit the detailed report to SCERT on June-22-2022 along with selected quality photographs, videos etcetera in support of the programme conducted by the respected schools,” it reads.
Notably, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India. (KNO)
