Gunfight breaks out in Shopian village

A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Baderhama Zawoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

According to the reports, that a joint team of Army’s 23 Paras, SOG and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Badherma Zawoora area after receiving credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

A senior police official said that as soon as forces intensified search operation towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces which was retaliated, triggering an encounter

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area. Intermittent firing was going on when the report was last filed. (KNO Inputs)
