Two days after being elected, UP Bar Council president shot dead in Agra Court

First femaleĀ Uttar Pradesh Bar Council president Darvesh Yadav was shot dead in Agra Civil Court on Wednesday, 12 June, reports IANS.

Agra City Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Verma said Darvesh Yadav was shot by an advocate named Manish Sharma, who had been her long-time acquaintance.

Yadav was shot thrice in the court premises. She was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

“Sharma is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and is in a critical condition,” he said.

Yadav had come on her first visit to the Civil Court after her election, Verma said quoting eyewitnesses.

At the ceremony in her honour, Sharma suddenly got up and opened fire at her. Before anyone could react, he shot himself too, police said.
