Mirwaiz greets Kashmiri Pandits on Mela Kheer Bhawani

Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday greeted Kashmiri Pandit community on the occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani.

Kashmir’s head cleric while taking to his Twitter handle expressed happiness over mass participation of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir on the religious occasion.

“Greetings to our Kashmiri Pandit community on their important religious occasion. Good to see many of them attend it in large numbers in the valley.” Mirwaiz tweeted.

The annual ‘Mela Kheer Bhawani’, the most important festival of Kashmiri pandits, associated with Hindu Goddess Ragnya Devi was Monday celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at Tulmulla area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and Kupwara with thousands of Pandith devotees participated in the function.

The annual festival is held on Jesht Ashtami (May-June) when Kashmiri pandits visit the place in large number to offer prayers to seek the blessings of the deity
