Shopian and Pulwama in south Kashmir shut down to mourn militant killings

Srinagar: The southern districts of Shopian and Pulwama are observing a complete shutdown on Saturday to mourn the death of three Hizbul Mujahideen militants.

As per reports all shops and other commercial establishments are closed in the districts while public transport remained off the roads.

Adding that people people from the Shopian, Pulwama and its neighboring districts are visiting the houses of the militants to offer condolences to the families.

Meanwhile, heavy contingents of government forces were deployed at sensitive locations in the districts to maintain law and order.

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants identified including top commander as Lateef Ahmad Dar alias Tiger of Dogripora Pulwama, were killed in an early morning encounter with forces in Imam Sahib village on Friday.
