Srinagar: Students of Kashmir University on Thursday  alleged that the forces personnel from Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) cornered them on a lonely street of Srinagar when they were on the way to University.

According to The Kashmiriyat  the students said  were travelling to the university on Thursday morning, when they were stopped by a CRPF patrol near the Saida Kadal area in Srinagar. “We pleaded that we were university students and also disclosed our identities, but abusing us, they asked us to come out of our vehicle, however there was nobody around, so in apprehension we did not come out,”the student said.

He said that, one of his friends said, that they might kill us, with nobody around, “So the CRPF men rounded our vehicle and caused heavy damage to the vehicle, they also broke the window panes of the vehicle.”

Soon, some locals came to the spot and the CRPF men asked us to move away. We tried our way through the Hawal area where we were stopped again, he said, adding that it was mandatory for them to reach the university as they had an internal exam to attend.

An official of Management studies, Mushtaq Ahmed Darzi said that the Department of Management studies had made it clear to students that they can attend exams the next time in case they cannot reach university.

“We had told the students that they do not need to risk their lives to write exams,” he said.
