Zakir Musa, the commander of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, has been killed in Badipora Locality of Dadasra area of south Kashmir’s Tral today evening.
Zakir Rashid Bhat, alias Zakir Musa, joined militancy in 2013 at the age of 19. He was earlier affiliated with Pakistan based militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen. He shot to prominence in 2017, after he announced his disassociation HM, and expressed the intention to go with the global movement of establishing Khilafat.
He was one of the longest surviving militants in Kashmir.
Scores of youth marched towards encounter site, and government forces fired tear gas shells, leading to clashes. According to the reports, the cordon was launched by a joint team of 42 RR and SOG in the area following credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As forces intensified search operation towards a suspected spot, militants opened fire triggering the encounter.
Mobile internet services have been snapped in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
