Srinagar: As the killing of elderly man of Bhaderwah triggered intense violence in the area and was widely condemned by various political leaders, a magisterial probe was ordered by district administration on Sunday into the killing and the subsequent incidents of vandalism after constituting a special investigation team (SIT) for the case.
As per reports, DDC Doda, Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode has ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of Nayeem Ahmad Shah and the subsequent violence in Bhadarwah.
However, on 18 May, a six-member SIT, headed by Superintendent of Police Bhadarwah, Raj Singh Gouria, is also on the job.
Reports said that police have detained 15 suspects so far involved in the incident, including 8 in murder case and 7 for violence, which erupted after the killing.
Following the killing of Mr. Shah, since Friday, no untoward incident has been reported in any part of the communally sensitive town or elsewhere. Mr. Shah’s killing triggered massive protests and group clashes on Thursday in the area, forcing authorities to impose indefinite curfew to maintain law and order.
