Shri Pratab (SP) college in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Mahjoor Day, dedicated to the death anniversary of a Kashmiri poet, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad alias Mahjoor. The event was attended by various writers and poets across the valley.

He is recognized as a poet who revolutionized the traditional forms of nazm and ghazal. He is especially noted for introducing a new style into Kashmiri poetry and for expanding Kashmiri poetry into previously unexplored thematic realms.

Born in Pulwama, Mahjoor is also noted for his poetic compositions in Persian and Urdu.

Many people and students participated in the event, wherein the students of Kothibagh higher secondary also performed on the songs of Mahjoor.
