A Kashmiri student, Absar Zahoor Dar, following his routine, went to a local coffee shop after his gym in Bengaluru city, was physically assaulted by a group of four youths, via iron rods, in AECS Layout near HAL on 20 March.

24-year-old is pursuing civil engineering from CMRIT college, Bengaluru, who is also a professional model, was urgently rescued by his friends, “They wouldn’t have left me alive if my friends wouldn’t have come,” said Mr. Dar. Urgently, he was taken to the nearby hospital.

Talking to The Kashmir Walla on call, Mr. Dar said that he has been in Bengaluru for 3 years, “and never such incident has happened with me.” Though, he mentions that he also had 6-7 Kashmiri friends with him, “if the motive behind the attack was my identity, being a Kashmiri, other friends would have been beaten up too, but that didn’t happen.”

While the mob thrashed Mr. Dar, as he said, was speaking in Kannada, the regional language. “But, before leaving they said, ‘Don’t come back here’,” he told.

Mr. Dar, who is also a professional model, confessed that he has no idea why he was attacked. In the attack, he did not suffer any severe external injuries, but have, as he said, 13 stitches on his hand, 6 on the face, while 5 on the head.

Though, talking to The Kashmir Walla Narasimha Murthy, an inspector at HCL police station in Bengaluru, said, “We arrested four suspects on the day FIR was filed, but they were granted bail within a day.” Refusing the communal motive behind the attack, Mr. Murthy said, “What we know so far is that a person from the mob had come to warn him (Mr. Dar) to not talk to his girlfriend.”

Mr. Murthy added that the investigation is going on.
