BJP wins one seat in Kargil council elections

The Bhartiya Janta Party has won just a single seat in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil elections.

The National Conference has emerged as single largest party with ten seats, while Congress is at the second place.

Out of 26 councilor seats for which results were declared today, National Conference was ahead of others by winning ten seats. The Congress followed it with its candidates emerging victorious on eight seats. PDP managed to win two seats while its  former alliance partner bagged just one seat.

The Council has 30 seats but the election is held for 26 seats. Four councilors are nominated by the state government and they too have the voting rights during a confidence or no confidence motion.
