Since the massive floods hit Kashmir and submerged the city Srinagar also, we had lost contact with all our staff. Most of the media houses in Kashmir are not been able to function. Today we have got in touch to Srinagar and these are the pictures from Jawahar Nagar and Rajbagh areas of the city. Several people have been evacuated and are being taken to dry areas like hospitals, schools and university for safety. There are still thousands stranded but the water level is decreasing now and the weather is getting better. Our Staff Photographer, Shahid Tantray, had been reporting and these are some of the scenes in the areas.
